Serial ATA technology provides many benefits to the end user and storage vendors by offering a platform that overcomes the limitations of Parallel-ATA drives. Integration is made simpler with Hot-Plug connection, reduced pin count, lower voltage signalling and smaller connectors and cables. SATA drives offer transfer rates of up to 300MB/Sec.
